The new comprehension exercise system is ready. Seedlingo can now present longer texts with questions and exercises.

While practicing new words in isolation can be helpful, context helps our brains memorize better. With Seedlingo's new "comprehension exercise", educators can create elaborate exercises for their users by providing a longer text and attach exercises to it. A user will first be instructed to read the text as best they can, relying on the rest of the text to interpret sections that may be unfamiliar. After giving the text an initial reading, they are presented with questions about the text with multiple-choice answers. Maybe the text is about gardening, and the questions asks what season is the best for planting a specific vegetable, encouraging the user to use the text for clues to pick the correct answer. After completing a set of questions, the user gets to do a few multiple-choice and matching exercises to practice newly introduced words, before ending the session with another read-through.

This new exercise type allows an educator a lot more range when tailoring the content to various skill levels. Seedlingo now supports a soft introduction of words or fragments through multiple choice, through matching and cloze exercises, until finally asking the user to read longer texts and reason about the texts as prompted by open questions.
