With Seedlingo, a linguist or teacher can create exercises that allow a native speaker to listen to a word's pronunciation and try to match it to the correct written word. Through repeated practice and progressively adding new words and exercise types, the native speaker steadily becomes a native reader. Seedlingo has already been used to create a literacy app for Standard Chinese pronunciation and Simplified Chinese characters at 立爱种字.

Norwegian Development Partners has launched Seedlingo as an open source project on GitHub and invite you to contribute. GitHub allows programmers and educators to collaborate on the technology as well as language content with tools for tracking issues, documenting usage and discussing the project.
